Description: Cassava and potatoes are both staple food and cash crop in Rwanda. The major constraints to the use of cassava and potato are the perishability of the fresh roots and tubers and the presence of cyanogenic compounds in cassava roots. These encourage the production of safer, durable and of high value products through processing.

Cassava flour packaging standards

Specification Type: Rwanda Standards Board - RSB

Cassava flour shall be packaged in food grade materials that will safeguard the hygienic, nutritional and organoleptic qualities of the product. The packaging materials shall comply with the environmental legislation of the destination country, Weights and Measures Cassava flour shall be packaged in accordance with the Weights and Measures requirements of the destination country.
